[ 02 ] DATA WE COLLECT

ASCII DOS Generator is a client and server side image converter. We do not maintain any database of user content.

AI Mode: Image data processed in AI Mode is handled by our conversion algorithms in the backend (servers), but is not stored in any database. Therefore, there is no need to request deletion of image data processed.
Classic Mode: Classic mode operates only on the frontend and does not involve backend processing or storage.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Google AdSense on all visits. The level of data collected depends on the preference you select in our cookie banner:

• Essential mode (default): Google Analytics runs with anonymised IP and ad personalisation signals disabled. Google AdSense serves non-personalised ads only (contextual, not based on your profile). No personal identifiers are processed.
• Accept All mode: Google Analytics collects full pseudonymous usage data (pages visited, session duration, browser type, OS, approximate location). Google AdSense may set advertising cookies and serve personalised ads based on your interests and browsing history.

Data processed by Google is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can change your preference at any time via the [ MANAGE COOKIES ] link in the site footer.

[ 03 ] LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING (GDPR)

We process data on the following legal bases:

• Legitimate Interests — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Anonymous analytics (anonymised IP, no ad signals) and non-personalised ads are loaded on all visits as they do not constitute personal data processing. This is balanced against your privacy rights by ensuring no identifiable data leaves your device in this mode.
• Consent — Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: Full personalised analytics and personalised advertising are only activated when you explicitly click Accept All. You may withdraw consent at any time via the [ MANAGE COOKIES ] footer link; withdrawal does not affect prior processing.
• Legitimate Interests — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Standard HTTP server logs (IP address, URL, timestamp, browser type) are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and abuse prevention only — never for profiling or marketing.

[ 04 ] YOUR RIGHTS — EU / EEA RESIDENTS (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten") — Request deletion of your data.
• Right to Restriction — Request that we limit processing of your data.
• Right to Data Portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Right to Withdraw Consent — If you selected Accept All, you may downgrade to Essential mode at any time via the [ MANAGE COOKIES ] link. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior personalised processing.
• Right to Lodge a Complaint — File a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (e.g., CNIL for France, ICO for the UK).

[ 05 ] YOUR RIGHTS — CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment the CPRA, California residents have the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected — See Section 02. In Essential mode, no personal data is collected. In All mode, pseudonymous analytics data is processed by Google.
• Delete personal information held about them.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — We do not sell data. Personalised ad data is shared with Google only in All mode. Switch to Essential mode at any time via [ MANAGE COOKIES ] to stop personalised processing.
• Non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Limit use of sensitive personal information.

[ 06 ] CHILDREN'S PRIVACY (COPPA)

ASCII DOS Generator does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (United States) or under 16 (European Union). The default Essential mode runs Google Analytics and AdSense in fully anonymous / non-personalised mode, ensuring no personal data is collected from any visitor regardless of age. Personalised processing (All mode) requires explicit consent and should not be granted on behalf of children without verifiable parental authorisation.

[ 07 ] COOKIES & TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Google Analytics and Google AdSense are active on all visits. The cookies they set and the data they collect depend on your selected mode:

• Essential (Security) — always active: The ascii_consent cookie stores your preference (365-day expiry, no personal data). The CSRF session cookie protects form submissions (session-bound, no personal data).
• Google Analytics — Essential mode: Sets _ga, _ga_* cookies with anonymised IP and ad/remarketing signals disabled. Data is non-identifiable aggregate statistics.
• Google Analytics — All mode: Same cookies, but full pseudonymous tracking enabled (session behaviour, approximate location, device info). Cookies expire after 2 years. See Google Analytics cookie policy.
• Google AdSense — Essential mode: Ads are served in non-personalised mode (requestNonPersonalizedAds=1). Google may still set basic cookies (__gads) for frequency capping and fraud prevention — these do not build a personal profile.
• Google AdSense — All mode: May set IDE, DSID, __gads (up to 13 months) for personalised ad targeting and performance measurement. See Google Advertising cookies.

Manage your preference at any time via [ MANAGE COOKIES ] in the footer, or via your browser's cookie settings. Blocking all cookies may affect site functionality.

[ 08 ] THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

This application integrates the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — Provided by Google LLC (USA). Always active. In Essential mode: anonymous, non-personalised. In All mode: full pseudonymous tracking. Data may be transferred to the USA under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Google AdSense — Provided by Google LLC (USA). Always active. In Essential mode: non-personalised contextual ads only. In All mode: personalised ads based on your interests.
  Policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
• Lucide Icons via cdnjs.cloudflare.com — A static CDN asset with no tracking capability. Always loaded. Cloudflare may log your IP per their Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their respective policies linked above.

[ 09 ] INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Fractal-Apps Pvt Ltd is headquartered in Puducherry, India. Image data is never transferred internationally — all processing happens in your browser.

If you consent to analytics or advertising, usage data may be transferred to and processed by Google LLC, headquartered in the United States. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission to legitimise transfers of EU personal data to the USA.

Server log data may be processed in data centres outside India or the EU, subject to our hosting provider's data processing agreements and used solely for security purposes.

[ 10 ] TERMS OF SERVICE

By using ASCII DOS Generator you agree to the following terms:

• Permitted Use: This tool is provided free of charge for personal, educational, and commercial use. You may use, share, or embed generated ASCII art without restriction.
• Prohibited Use: You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, flood, or otherwise disrupt the service. You must not upload images that violate applicable laws (e.g., CSAM, copyright infringement intended for harm).
• Content Responsibility: All images processed remain on your device. You are solely responsible for the images you choose to convert.
• No Warranty: The service is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
• Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fractal-Apps Pvt Ltd shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use this service.
• Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Puducherry, India.
• Changes: We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

[ 11 ] INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The ASCII DOS Generator application, its source code, visual design, and branding are the exclusive property of Nicolas Martin / Fractal-Apps Pvt Ltd, protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

ASCII art output generated by users belongs to the respective user. No rights are claimed over user-generated content.
